Public IP, private IP and dedicated IP: keep them apart

People searching “what is my IP” or “find my IP” almost always want the public address of the current session: the same value that shows up in firewall logs, panels and APIs. This tool returns that value at query time.

Three layers often get mixed up in support chats and forums:

  • Public: what the internet sees. That is what we detect here.
  • Private: ranges like 192.168.x.x or 10.x.x.x, valid only inside the LAN.
  • Dedicated (fixed): stays the same after reconnecting. On RoxyCloud VPS, dedicated IPv4 is the default when you need predictability.

On residential plans with CGNAT, several homes share one public IP. That is why opening a router port sometimes fails for cameras, DVRs or game servers reachable from outside. Infrastructure with its own IP in Brazil, Anti-DDoS and human support is what RoxyCloud provides when you need a truly stable address.

FAQ

Questions we hear most

Short answers about public IP, CGNAT and privacy on this tool.

It shows the public IP of the connection in use right now: the identifier external services associate with your access. It is not your Wi-Fi LAN address or your VPS IP unless you are browsing from that VPS.

Usually a public IP points to the ISP and an approximate area, not to your street number. Still, do not share the IP without need, and use a VPN if you want more privacy.

Dynamic IPs can change after reconnecting the modem. Dedicated IPs stay the same. On RoxyCloud VPS and dedicated servers, IPv4 is typically dedicated, which helps DNS, firewalls and services that need a stable address.

With a VPN, a proxy or by browsing from a VPS that has its own IP. Stay within the law and the terms of the services involved.

Yes on many residential plans with dynamic IP. On a RoxyCloud VPS with dedicated IP, the address should not change just because the home modem restarted.

Often yes. With CGNAT several connections share one public IP, so home-router rules frequently fail for external access. A server with its own IP in Brazil usually fixes that case.

No. The value is read at request time and returned only to your browser. This tool does not save the IP to a database.
