How to improve the route to a game server

A fast internet plan and a low in-game ping are not the same thing. A speed test measures download. The game measures the path to the server, there and back, all the time.

The RoxyCloud server is in Presidente Prudente. The first stretch of the trip is your ISP. If that path is bad, only you feel it. A friend on the same server can be fine.

When routing is the suspect

  • The speed test is high, but in-game ping does not match the distance.
  • The overlay number jumps up and down the whole session.
  • It gets worse at night. Late at night it looks normal again.

Three things before any app

  1. Use an ethernet cable on the PC that plays.
  2. Turn off VPNs and third-party “boosters”.
  3. Play on a host in Brazil. A far-away server beats any optimizer.

What Cloudflare WARP does

WARP is a free app on your computer. It tries another path onto the internet. It does not change the RoxyCloud server. It does not change the plan. It does not raise FPS.

It can help. It can hurt. That is why you test it, instead of leaving it on forever.

How to test

  1. Download only from the official site: https://one.one.one.one/
  2. Turn WARP on. Join the same server. Play ten minutes. Write down the ping.
  3. Turn WARP off. Play again.
  4. Keep the more stable mode. If it is a tie, leave it off.
