How to access a VPS with SSH

SSH is the program that opens your VPS on your computer. The screen goes black. You type commands. That is how you get into a RoxyCloud Linux VPS.

This is not the game panel. Palworld, Terraria and Minecraft use Power, Files and Console. SSH is the whole machine, with a user and a password.

What you need

  • The VPS IP. It is in the delivery email.
  • The user. Almost always root.
  • The password. Same email.

How to log in on Windows

  1. In the Start menu, search Terminal and open it.
  2. Type the command below. Replace the IP with yours.
  3. If it asks a question, type yes and press Enter.
  4. Paste the password. The cursor does not move. That is normal.
  5. When you see root@ and the machine name, you are in.
Paste in Terminal
ssh [email protected]

On Linux and Mac the command is the same. Open a terminal and paste it.

If it does not connect

  • Connection timed out: wrong IP or the VPS is off.
  • Permission denied: wrong password or user. Copy them again from the email.

After you are in

Change the password now. Type passwd, press Enter and follow the prompts.

That is enough for today. SSH keys, Fail2ban and file upload come later, when you are already comfortable inside the VPS.
