How to set, change and remove the Terraria server password

On a RoxyCloud Terraria server the room password lives in config.txt. You stop the world, edit the line, save and start again. If the server is already up, the Console can swap the password right away.

Turn on or change the password in config.txt

  1. Open the RoxyCloud panel and your Terraria server.
  2. Stop the server with Power.
  3. Open the Files tab.
  4. Open the config.txt file.
  5. Find the line password=. Remove the # if it is commented and put the password after the =.
  6. Save the file.
  7. Start the server with Power.
config.txt
password=orvalho-2026

Turn off the password

To open the room without asking for a password, comment the line. Put # at the start. The password text can stay there so you can turn it back on later.

config.txt
#password=orvalho-2026
  1. Stop the server with Power.
  2. Edit config.txt as above.
  3. Save.
  4. Start again with Power.

Change the password from the Console

With the world running, open the Console tab. In vanilla Terraria the command goes without a slash at the start.

Panel Console
password
password orvalho-2026

The first command shows the current password. The second sets a new one. Anyone already inside stays in. Anyone who joins after uses the new password.
